Thodupuzha is the Revenue Head Quarter of Idukki District, has its own history which can be traced to 1000 A.D. It is one of the districts in the state which has a number of wild life sanctuaries and facilities for High Range tourism. It is also famous for its spices production, tea plantations and rubber cultivation. 

Thodupuzha is the focal point of important tourist places such as: Idukki, Thekkady, Mangaladevi Temple, Vandiperiyar, Peerumade, Thommankuthu, Munnar, Mattupetty, Eravikulam National Park, Rajamala, Pallivasal, Marayoor, Chinnar Wild Life Sanctuary, Ramakkalmedu, Nadukani Tower, Kalvari Mount, Meenuliyanpara and Malankara Dam.

Thodupuzha also has numerous ancient places of worship such as St. George Church at Muthalakodam, the St. Mary's Forane Church at Chungom, The St. Michaels Church at Thenomkunnu and the Town Church. Among the Hindu temples are the Thodupuzha Sreekrishna Swamy Temple, the Karicodu Bhagavathi Temple and the Mudaliar Madom Temple. Among the Muslim mosques are the Karikodu Ninaru Mosque and the Pazhayari Juma Masjid.

Thodupuzha is a neat, quiet town having incredible climate for healthy living and also holding religious harmony and peaceful co-existence. Christian churches, Hindu temples and Muslim mosques abound in Thodupuzha and co-exist next to each other, symbolizing religious unity.
